Registration Information

Why is the Palm OS version shareware when the other versions are free software?

Simple: the Palm OS version is more useful, since you can take it into the field with you. The closest you can come to this convenience with the other versions is to drag a laptop along with you.

The Palm OS version is also the primary version of the program, along with the Windows version. These two versions of f/Calc will get new features, while the other versions are probably stuck forever at version 1.0. When you register, you will get free updates until the next major version. That is, registering 2.0 will give you access to 2.1, 2.2, etc. When version 3.0 comes out, licensed users of version 2.x can upgrade at a discount.

How do I register?

Click here to go the f/Calc page at PalmGear. Registration for version 1.x is $8. They accept online, phone-in and mail-in orders via credit card. If you want to pay by check or money order, you can mail it to:

    Warren Young
    105 N. Oliver Drive
    Aztec, NM 87410
    USA

Include a note giving your Palm user name and a postal or email address where I can send your registration code. Case is significant in the user name — "Martin Van Buren" is not the same thing as "Martin van Buren", as far as my key generator is concerned. Check the program's Registration Info dialog box (on the Settings menu) to be sure.

What new features can I expect in the future?

Version 1.1 is essentially a Palm-ified version of the 1.0 Windows version, plus a few convenience features and minor improvements. For information on what version 2.0 will have, please visit the wish list.

Upgrade pricing

Registered users of 1.1 will be able to upgrade to 2.0 for the difference between the 1.1 and the 2.0 registration price. I haven't yet decided on a registration price for 2.0, but currently I'm playing with a $15 figure, which would make the upgrade $7. Registering gets you a code that will unlock both the Windows 2.0 version when it comes out and the Palm OS version.
